The artist Matt Ferguson, who has designed several exclusive film posters for Marvel films such as Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War has just revealed his latest work of art: an official poster of the highly anticipated Marvel Studios movie, Captain Marvel.
The movie focuses solely on the titular superheroine in mid-flight, while rising above the Earth and rising to the dark skies of the cosmos. The binary powers of the character are present, and its iconic logo takes shape behind it, like the brightest star in space. The now iconic signature "Higher, Farther, Faster", which was recently revealed to be said in the film itself, hovers over the character not only as a reminder, but as a promise.
The artist revealed the poster on his personal Twitter account, offering a bit of retrospective in his process. "I decided to make the draft only about Carol Danvers and cut the title treatment so that you feel more attracted to her," he wrote of his epic piece.
In a follow-up tweet, Ferguson confirmed that this poster would be delivered during the special screenings of the film at Odeon Cinemas in the UK, from March 8 to 10.
Marvel fans should not be oblivious to the impressive work of Ferguson. His iconic art can be found on the covers of all the films included in the limited edition sets of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has since produced impressive posters for all other films, from Doctor Strange to Thor: Ragnarok.
Captain Marvel is a story of origin that will take place in the past of the MCU, before the character joins the Most Powerful Heroes of the Earth in Avengers: Endgame in the middle of this year.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel is played by Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury , Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Persecutor, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau. The film arrives on March 8, 2019.
